The Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center exist to serve the local community and beyond by offering a world-class educational experience centered around the themes of Aviation and Innovation.

We are especially committed to communicating a philosophy that people learn best if they are encouraged to find something of value and interest upon which to apply their education.

After the initial Grand Opening Weekend 7/7 and 7/8 of 2007, the Museum will move forward with new exhibits, a series of presentations delivered by both local notables and others outside of the Sandpoint area. These presentations will be planned to benefit not only adults, but children as well. The schedule for these presentations is forthcoming. Seats will be limited, so keep checking back on the site for registration information.

This has certainly been the experience of Dr. Forrest Bird, M.D., PhD., ScD., whose early, avid, interest in aviation provided an application for learning which has produced some of the greatest innovations of our time. In 1995 Dr. Bird was inducted into the "US Inventors' Hall of Fame" for his developments in "Fluid Dynamics and the patented BABYbird®." He is a past president of the Civil Aviation Medical Association (CAMA). Dr. Bird is an active highly qualified FAA certificated Flight Instructor Pilot and Aeronautical Engineer. He remains an ardent Lecturer as well as Educator, with deep Research and Development commitments in Aeromedicine.

It has also been the experience of Dr. Pamela Riddle Bird, PhD, a nationally recognized commercialization expert who directed one of the largest publicly funded innovation centers in the U.S. and has counseled thousands of inventors and entrepreneurs for nearly two decades. She is Founder and CEO of Innovative Product Technologies, Inc. (IPT, Inc.), which was highlighted in the WALL STREET JOURNAL as one of the top innovation commercialization corporations assisting inventors with new products, ideas, and technologies.
