Federal Aviation Administration, "Safety and Education" Workshop
Monday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 1st .

"The Idaho Transportation Department's Division of Aeronautics is sponsoring a two-day Teacher Aviation Workshop in Sandpoint, June 30-July 1, 2008, demonstrating how aviation subjects can be incorporated into regular lessons.

It is intended for grades 6-12. The workshop offers an exciting opportunity to see unique ideas for teaching mathematics and science while at the same time linking with reading, social studies and technology.

These exciting, fun filled, hands-on workshops will feature aviation activities that show how the exciting field of aviation can connect these subjects in the real world. Using official aeronautical charts, easy-to-make-plotters, and other low cost items, participants will fly high with numerous classroom-ready lessons and activities.

All activities are aligned with the current Idaho State Academic Standards and are very relevant to the ISAT.

Registration will be through our website at http://itd.idaho.gov/aero (select the "Safety and Education" link from the left-hand menu, and then "Teacher Workshops").

Please contact me, Frank Lester ( frank.lester@itd.idaho.gov ) or Tammy Schoen ( tammy.schoen@itd.idaho.gov ),
(208) 334-8775, for more information."
